Sales research is tedious but critical. This workflow template turns your OpenClaw agent into a research engine that takes a company name or LinkedIn URL and returns a structured brief — complete with ICP scoring, personalization angles, and a draft outreach message. No more copy-pasting between twelve tabs.
Workflow steps
The agent follows a five-step pipeline:
1. IntakeAccept a company name, URL, or LinkedIn profile. Normalize the input and confirm the target.
2. EnrichmentPull data from available sources: company website, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, recent news, social media activity. The agent prioritizes recent signals (funding rounds, product launches, job postings).
3. ICP ScoringScore the prospect against your Ideal Customer Profile definition. The schema covers:- Company size and stage- Industry and vertical- Technology stack indicators- Growth signals (hiring, funding, expansion)- Pain point alignment
Each factor gets a 1—5 score with a brief rationale.
4. PersonalizationIdentify 2—3 specific angles for outreach:- Recent company news or milestones- Shared connections or interests- Specific pain points your product addresses- Content they’ve published or engaged with
5. Draft OutreachGenerate a short, personalized email or message. No templates — each draft references specific research findings. The agent flags when personalization is weak and suggests waiting for better timing.

ICP definition schema
Define your ideal customer once; the agent uses it for every prospect:
## Ideal Customer Profile - Company size: [range, e.g. 50-500 employees] - Stage: [seed | series-a | series-b | growth | enterprise] - Industry: [list of target verticals] - Tech signals: [tools/platforms that indicate fit] - Pain indicators: [problems your product solves] - Disqualifiers: [hard no criteria] - Engagement threshold: [minimum ICP score to pursue]
Output format
Every research brief follows the same structure:
## Prospect Brief: [Company Name] **ICP Score:** [X/25] [✓ Qualified | — Below threshold] **Research Date:** [date] ### Company Overview [2-3 sentences] ### Key Signals - [Signal 1 with source] - [Signal 2 with source] - [Signal 3 with source] ### Personalization Angles 1. [Angle + why it works] 2. [Angle + why it works] ### Draft Outreach [Personalized message] ### Agent Notes [Confidence level, data gaps, recommended timing]
SOUL integration
## Lead Research I research prospects thoroughly before any outreach is sent. I score against the ICP honestly — a low score is useful information, not failure. I flag weak personalization rather than forcing generic angles. I cite my sources so my human can verify.
